Four Perfect Father’s Day Gifts for Sporty Dads

Father’s Day 2019 is right around the corner! While we don’t celebrate Father’s Day in my household, it is traditionally a day to say, “thanks, Dad, for being my Dad.” It only comes once a year, so you can’t screw it up. One bad gift and he could be on his way to the corner store for a pack of smokes, if you know what I mean. So, in order to make sure that your Dad won’t abandon you, here’s some foolproof options for the Dad who loves sports.

1. Game day dog. Just because he’s not in the stadium doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy a hot dog at the game! The next time you’re at a sporting event, sneak away from your group to buy a dozen or so game dogs and stuff them in the backpack you brought for this reason. When you get home, put the backpack in the industrial freezer in your garage and save. Then, every Father’s Day, thaw one hotdog and tell him to enjoy! Relish not included.

2. Former FBI Director James Comey’s new book, A Higher Loyalty. This one is also perfect for Dads that don’t like sports too, because it mentions “sports” zero times. It’s just a super interesting book. Bonus: If your dad happens to be James Comey, this is an even more perfect gift to give; he wrote it, so clearly he thinks it's good.

James Comey has a lot to say, basically none of it having to do with sports.

3. Hoodie that has the letters “S,P,O,R,T and S” on it (in that order). Nothing says “sports” quite like a hoodie with that word written on it! Just be sure to get his size first, or else you’ll have to order a 2XL and hope for the best.

4. An engraved frisbee. If you really wanna go above and beyond, I recommend shelling out the big bucks for a nice custom engraved frisbee. Engraving his name is nice, but a bit too on the nose. I suggest a quote from his favorite sports movie, or maybe your name so that he doesn’t forget who got him that awesome frisbee when Christmas rolls around.

Nate Odenkirk will not be home for Father’s Day.
